Passing The Torch

Dear Phenomenal Supporters,

For nearly a decade, I have devoted much of my time, resources, and efforts to serving our community and investing in our youth through Phenomenal Women, Inc. Reflecting on our remarkable journey, I'm filled with abundant gratitude. This year marks a milestone in the Phenomenal Women (PW) story, and it is with mixed emotions that I share this moment with you, our cherished community of supporters.

Earlier this year, I expressed to our Board that I wish to transition out of the role of President to focus on new professional and personal opportunities that await. With mixed emotions, I am announcing my departure as President and Executive Director of Phenomenal Women, Inc. I can't believe that a shattered basketball dream led me to step out on faith to create and lead this phenomenal organization. It's time for a new chapter in my journey, and I do so with a heart full of gratitude and excitement for what the future holds for both Phenomenal Women and me.

As a young girl, I could never have imagined that I would be where I am today, founding a non-profit organization that serves as a guiding light for others. My childhood was filled with challenges, including many setbacks and traumas. Despite barely graduating from high school, I overcame these obstacles and transitioned into an honors student in college. My story is one of resilience, and it inspires me to let young women know that if I can defy the odds stacked against me, they can too. These experiences paved the way for me to support women and youth from diverse backgrounds. Through my personal trials, I found my purpose, and with the unwavering support of women who believed in me, Phenomenal Women was brought to life.

I owe immeasurable gratitude to the women who  were instrumental in helping me establish Phenomenal Women and shaping my journey in 2014, on the campus of Miles College.

This year's theme, "Evolving You," reflects how Phenomenal Women have transformed me and our collective journey. I’m reminded of the quote, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." I've discovered myself through numerous events where we empowered women, supported over 150 young individuals, collectively raised now over $10,000 in scholarships, expanded our reach across Colorado, received backing from various businesses, conducted countless workshops, served the unhoused community through gratitude and giving events, connected with extraordinary leaders I once could only dream of sitting down with, and so much more! I remain dedicated to empowering the next generation of women leaders.

This transformative work wouldn't have been achievable without the steadfast commitment of the Phenomenal Dream Team – an exceptional group of women who share our vision and dedication to creating a meaningful impact. With Phenomenal Women in capable hands, our newly appointed Executive Director, who brings a wealth of experience with over 10 years in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work across academic, corporate, and non-profit sectors, has already helped us grow in multiple ways. Stay tuned to meet and learn more about her journey soon! I can't wait to see the amazing achievements our new leader and team will accomplish in the forthcoming years.

As my final request as President, I encourage you all to support our scholarship fund by donating or purchasing a ticket to our Gala on November 4. Your support will help our legacy continue as we grow and evolve. I anticipate continuing to support Phenomenal Women in the future and am excited about the opportunities the next chapter holds for me. I am deeply grateful for your trust, support, and the sense of community we've shared over the years.

With immense gratitude,

Joshalynn Green-Turner
